I joined Paper Airplanes this last summer and I can say that it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. At first, I was doubtful about signing up because I had never delivered a lesson before, so I wasn't sure how much I would be able to teach. However, now that I have been in the program for a couple of months, I know those reservations were just the fear talking and I am so glad I didn't let it hold me back.
I have worked already with three different students and it has been great hearing their stories and knowing that I am taking part in their English-learning journey. I most definitely sympathize with their feelings as they undergo this process because I went through it myself not too long ago. That's one of the main reasons why it feels so rewarding to volunteer at this organization and advance its goals.
When I heard that Paper Airplanes was launching a new initiative, I didn't think twice before applying and showing how eager I am to continue contributing. Now, I am not only a proud tutor, but a representative of Paper Airplanes' vision in Miami. This initiative has, yet again, challenged me in many aspects, and I am happy to share this experience with my co-leader, Heena. It has truly been an honor meeting new tutors and other staff at Paper Airplanes and serving as a bridge of connection between both. I can't wait to see what other adventures we embark on together!
